"I'm so grateful for all of you, my songs found a home because of all of you in this room", a teary eyed FLETCHER expresses her gratitude as she looks out to the crowd at The United Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles, California.
Known for her raw, honest music that explores love and identity, FLETCHER brings an exclusive three night only intimate performance to celebrate her latest album, “Would You Still Love Me If You Really Knew Me?”. The first two nights being sold out in New York City and completing its run in LA.
“I love you Cari!” (FLETCHER’s first name) a fan screams as soon as the opening song “Party” finishes. FLETCHER is illuminated on stage at a keyboard, as the crowd is up and out of their seats, surrounded by a breathtaking Spanish Gothic Revival style theater from the 1920s.
A six piece band joins FLETCHER on stage, including a cello, a giant rug on the floor and a string of moving lightbulbs to perfect the mood of the night of acoustic and stripped down songs.
She pulls up an accent chair to sit in as she performs one of her newest singles, “Boy”, making it so intimate it feels like you’re in her living room experiencing a private show. She jokes how a usual concert goes is her headbanging every two seconds, taking her clothes off and breaking her neck. It truly brings to perspective what a rare opportunity it is to experience FLETCHER’s newest songs like, “The Arsonist” and “Congratulations” in such a raw form, while getting to hear older hits like, “Healing” and “Becky’s So Hot” in an acoustic rendition while changing up lyrics to positively reflect where her journey is currently at.
“At the beginning, it started with a question that was very external facing. What if people knew how I felt about the music industry, how I felt about being on a stage…”, a soft spoken FLETCHER describes the meaning of her new album, she continues, “What if I sang about who I loved in this moment and if my shows felt different…Would people still come, would people still love me?”
The night ends with FLETCHER walking down from the stage and running down the theater isles to high five and thank her fans with the biggest smile. The same energy was matched through the show with the crowd filling the room with booming cheers, dancing and smiles just as bright- answering FLETCHER’s question, “Would you still love me if you really knew me?”.
The answer is “yes”.
