The year is 2025 but tonight we’re transported back to early 2000s nostalgia. Story of the Year brings The Scream Team Tour co-headlining with Senses Fail and special guests Armor For Sleep at a sold out House of Blues in Anaheim, California.
The stage dims blue, making the most elegant entrance, Story of the Year glides in circles coming out on stage, each member on a kick scooter, before turning up the energy to their latest single “Gasoline (All Rage Still Only Numb)”.
“We don’t have to be perfect. We just have to f*cking sweat together and have a good f*cking time!”, shouts the frontman, Dan Marsala, giving it his all on stage with his vocals and screams. Sharing the stage with members Ryan Phillips (guitar), Josh Wills (drums) and Adam Russell (bass).
The 14 song setlist ignited the packed room with endless energy, Marsala jumps to the barricade of the crowd during “Our Time Is Now”. From playing rare deep cuts, “We’re Not Gonna Make It”, to their biggest hits, “Until the Day I Die” and “Anthem of Our Dying Day”, to more recent releases, “Tear Me To Pieces” and “War”.
As the tour reaches its second to last stop, the band pays homage with “2005”, Marsala introduces how the song was inspired by the band’s early years just a few miles east of the venue. Where they spent over a decade with eight guys crammed in a small house building their sound and ultimately John Feldmann (producer/writer and frontman of Goldfinger) signed the band. “That’s what “2005” is about”, shares Marsala.
You can anticipate hearing new music from Story of The Year as they release their upcoming album A.R.S.O.N. on February 13, 2026.
